A brief history of the club.

Quick Info

The club was started unofficially in 1993 by a few cricket lovers in Madison. Initially, there were just a few residents of Madison showing interest in cricket. The strength of the club didn't really pick up until the student population was involved in 2002. Beginning May 2002, an increasing number of students started using the club facilities to play and compete against each other. Currently we have a healthy mix of 2:1.

In July 2002, a groups of students from UW visited Houghton, MI to play a series against the Michigan Technlogical University team. This team was an unofficial representation of the cricket club. After returning from Houghton, efforts were made to bring in more teams to play in Garner Park. This resulted in a series of local games which culminated in the immensely successful IGSA - Asha Tournament.

2003 has given a new beginning to the club. The club has officially been started and is on a roll. We have exceeded our expectations of about 50 members and reached over 100. Eight teams have registered. These developments bode well to the game of cricket.

With the Park's Commission of the City of Madison giving approval to our proposal to lay an astro turf pitch on a concrete base, we are all set to begin the 2003 season.

Watch out for some exciting cricket coming back to Garner Park.
